I WANT A BABY!, REVisited (lecture), 2016
HD Video, 16 min 33 sec

This lecture-performance features the pregnant artist in front of a chalkboard. The lecture examines the web of themes involved in her current research project. Centered on the script of Sergei Tret'iakov's last play I Want a Baby! (1926), the lecture covers topics ranging from utopianism to Soviet history to eugenics to lesbian parthenogenesis. The censored play is rich in themes of gender, sex, sexuality, reproduction, and questions of changing society. All contained in a very complicated and challenging history with ongoing implications.

The artist's partner is filmmaker, audience, and interlocutor. A conversation about pregnancy, parenting, and queerness interrupts the lecture, bringing attention to the bodies at work (in numerous ways) in the space.
